Welcome to our Holiday 2009 Newsletter issue from Shangri-La Sedona and 'tween: Where the Spaces Be'tween Things Speak.

It is breathtaking and beautiful in Sedona during the holidays. As always, it's sunny all day and clear starry nights. This is no doubt one of the most beautiful times to be in Sedona. Because we are a dark skies community, we get to pull out all the stops and light up the town with loads of fairy Christmas lights, putting on Sedona a magical sparkle like icing on a cake. After a day's hike in the red rocks, take a drive or borrow our horse-drawn carriage to enjoy the sparkling homes and storefronts showing their holiday spirit of good tidings and cheer! Then settle in at one of our local night spots for a cup of cheer!

Using Imagery to Heal Dis-ease via TGI &
the Divine Feminine Within

How am I going to go about sharing all this great Transformational Guided Imagery (TGI) knowledge if I don't really get into sharing some of my own personal examples and experiences using TGI? In this article I will share an intense experience that relates to each and every woman. I share this not to tell you how to do your own healing but to give you an avenue of creative expression in healing.

My family has a risk of ovarian cancer and for years I have been battling a feeling of pain in that general area. Dowsing and muscle testing (kineseology) showed I indeed had issues in that area. In order to correct this I knew I needed to do several things to realign my body/mind/spirit back to health. In addition to eating more properly, incorporating some exercise I have worked extensively with my own imagery work in order to facilitate inner healing. The following experience was dramatically healing. This involves decisions we women make every day. It will touch your soul. Below are my session notes.

DENMARK: We  will be visiting family and friends, and various Castles (Slots) in Denmark as well as sacred Viking ruins and sacred lands.

UNITED KINGDOM/ENGLAND:  We will then travel to England for Sacred Ceremony of the Divine Feminine among the Stones, Circles and Chalice Well. We will be exploring the sacred ruins in Bath Avebury and will be providing "Ghostbusting" services for a few of the locals' "uninvited guests." And, together will be offering more services while in England.

ITALY:  They will then travel to Italy where they will explore Rome's sacred sites and will also be grounding lineage healing through Firenze (Florence). All sacred site tours will involve their Quantum Energy Seed Thought Forms, and Magical Touch, Sacred Expressions and Chants.

CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY RECIPES

These are some of my all-time favorite recipes ... I think you'll love these and will welcome them into your holiday events! As much as possible, please cook or bake with organic or locally grown organic ingredients and feel free to exchange the white flour with spelt or brown rice flour adjusting any liquid ingredients accordingly.

BETTY MCCLANAHAN'S VEGGIE DIP

We loved going to the McClanahan's for New Years Eve parties. They could really throw a fun shindig. Her recipe a great dip is good for snacking anytime, create a super healthy version by exchanging some of the food items for low-fat alternatives. My adaptations for a low-fat, fat-free organically healthy version are included. And everyone loves this dip at my own parties now. Enjoy!

1 cup sour cream (fat free optional)
1 cup small curd cottage cheese (fat free yogurt)
1 cup mircle whip (Canola mayonnaise or Vegan mayonnaise)
1 package Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing (alt: 1 tsp. minced garlic & 1 tsp. dill weed)

Mix well adding packaged dressing to taste. Chill. Serve with raw vegetables, chips and crackers.

MOM'S GERMAN POTATO SALAD (SCHOOL PICNIC RECIPE)

This was an amazing warm potato salad that Mom used to fix every year, usually for Easter holiday. It felt like a good idea for the winter holidays though because potatoes are such a staple and this is more of a warming side dish than a salad.

20 medium potatoes, cooked in jackets, skinned and sliced
2 medium onions, cut fine
Ssalt to taste
Pepper to taste
8 slices Bacon, cut in small pieces
4 Eggs, slightly beaten
1 1/2 - 2 cups sugar
1 cup vinegar (recommend apple cider vinegar)
Celery salt to taste

Combine potatoes and onions. Add salt, pepper and celery salt. Fry bacon until crisp. Let cool a few minutes. Stir into the crisply fried bacon a mixture of eggs, sugar and vinegar. Cook mixture for one minute. If too thick, add a small amount of water. Pour this cooked mixture over the sliced potatoes and onions that have been seasoned. Enjoy!

BETTY LUMLEY'S ZESTY ORANGE SALAD

Betty's fresh orange salad was always a welcome addition to the table and balanced a holiday's heavier meats and sauces with its light and fresh taste. Easy to put together and a quick crowd pleaser, this recipe will make your holiday dinner a little extra special.

4 cups mixed greens
3 oranges, peeled and segmented (I use 1 large can Mandarin Oranges)
1/2 cup walnuts
2 tbsps. chopped green onion

DRESSING
1/4 cup oil
2 tbsps. vinegar (apple cider or white wine)
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp. grated orange peel
2 tbsps. minced parsley
1/2 tsp. crushed marjoram or rosemary

Note: Remember if you use canned mandarikne oranges you will still need one orange for grated peel.

NANCY LARSON'S CHRISTMAS DAY DROP SCONES

How about treating the family to something quick, delicious and warm from the oven on Christmas morning? Or for an evening treat, spread on a little lingonberry jam and pour a cup of hot cocoa. Yum!

1 stick Butter, softened (1/2 cup)
1/2 cup milk
1 1/2 tsp. white vinegar
1/2 cup sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 tsp. salt
Sugar

Stir together milk and vinegar; set aside. Stir together buttern and 1/2 cup sugar in large bowl. Combine flour and next three ingredients. Stir into butter mixture, alternately with milk mixture, beginning and ending with flour mixture, until dry ingredents are moistened. Drop by rounded two tablespoons onto ungreased cookie sheet; sprinkle withy additional sugar. Bake at 450° for 12 to 14 minutes or until golden brown. Yield: 10 scones. Prep 8 min. Bake 14 min.

BETTY LUMLEY'S MANDARIN ORANGE CAKE

When you feel like something fresh and citrus-y, try this light and fluffy orange cake. We loved this cake and know you will too. Perfect for the holidays and special occasions.

1 - 18 1/2 oz. Yellow Cake Mix
3/4 cup Oil
4 Eggs
1 - 11 oz. can Mandarin Oranges and juice (I can never find 11 oz. can; I buy 15 oz. and use most - leaving out just a bit of the juice)

ICING
1 - 3 3/4 oz. Vanilla instant pudding
1 - 15 1/2 oz. crushed Pineapple and juice (can use 20 oz. crushed Pineapple - but don't use all the juice)
1 - 12 oz. LeCreme or Cool Whip - thawed

For Cake: Beat together for one minute. pour into 3 - 8" layer cake pans, greased well. Cake layers will come out thin.

For Icing, mix all ingredients by hand only. Mix pudding and pineapple plus juice. Add Cool Whip or LeCreme.

To assemble: Spread icing in between layers and top (not sides). Best to make a day ahead. Freezes beautifully. I use wooden skewers to keep layers from slipping. Remove skewers at serving time. Serves 14.
